Is it easy to remove? It looks like it has quick disconnects so you could remove the hard top fairly easily.
It tilts back to allow removal of the hard top. The carrier (shown) could (also) be removed alltogether with 4 bolts - leaving the mounting posts.

The basket portion attaches to the frame at four points.. looks easy, haven't installed yet.

How does that keep the bears out? Also, What do you do if you run into a bear camping? This has been my only real fear of camping...

I'm not really sure! The park rangers told me to keep food locked in my vehicle or tied up at least 12 feet in a tree. Locking it in a Jeep with a soft top is pointless so I had to go the tree route. You would think the bears would just climb the tree to get to the food, just doing what I was told.

I've never seen a bear camping, I thought they just lived in caves.

On the ironic side, I'm a huge Chicago Bears fan and my license plate says, "BRS JP"!

simply leave it alone. its probably more scared of you than you are of it. ive come across bears in camps while camping. just leave them alone, and let them get into your food if they express interest in it. dont keep food near you, such as inside your tent.

I never ran into a bear while hiking or camping. However, my plan is to offer to buy it a drink. That always worked really well with chasing women away, and they're meaner than bears.

Sounds like my luck! When I was younger and wanted my first Jeep, I thought that chicks dig them, so they will be all over me! Then I realized they only like the look of them and when they get in, they say "Your A/C sucks, it's loud, you need to wash it." I don't get it either!

Not mine.......the a/c works great, and it never stays dirty long. And one of the biggest, baddest, and dirtiest Jeeps I know of is actually owned by a chick! So, I guess reality lies pretty much somewhere in between. Around here at least, chicks really do dig Jeeps, cause nearly half of the drivers I see in them are women.

That's a stupid thing for a park ranger to say. I've seen A LOT of vehicles that bears opened like a tin can to get the food that was left inside. Hell, around here they tell you to take out anything that's scented, including lotions or chapstick.
