This is a very encouraging thread. My little guy is sitting on 31's. They were on there when I bought it last month. Looks a lot like the jeep in post #71 above except for half doors. I even have the same stock 30" spare. 35's are cool but now I am thinking I am going to replace the spare with a 31X10.50 to match the others, install an OME 2" lift and a couple of lockers and call it a day.

I am thinking the same thing. My rig has a good set of GY Silent Armor 30x9.5x15 with lots of life yet. Used wheels are common and cheap locally. A set of rims and 31" swampers for playing and one has a great rig. A guy can learn a bunch and decide what aspect of wheeling appeals to him before committing to large expense.

Threads like this are great for those of us who have to wheel poor! I'll be on 31's for a long time to come, and have a blast doing so. Wheeling stock (or close to it) is an incredible challenge.

Don't think of it as a challenge, think of it as a learning experience. A good driver in a stock or near stock vehicle has to learn better lines and more about finesse to make it thru stuff. Even a poor driver could make it thru a challenging spot if the vehicle is well equipped for it. Take some of these "rock racers" in the rock crawling challenges, put them in a stock vehicle on a moderate trail and they would be stuck if not destroy the vehicle in no time. They lose the sense of driving when it's built for anything and have no sense of breakage.

So it looks to me most with 31 are running stock suspension or a small 2" suspension lift. I am not seeing too many BLs. I mention this because if I stay on 31s for a while I am considering either a 2"-2.5" lift or leave the suspension stock and do a BL/MML with a Tummy Tuck. Not sure which would be the best way to go.

Mine is stock right now. I really need a 2.5 or 3 inch lift because they are way too tight for any serious 4X4'n
