I didn't commission the build, so I'll have to reference the build sheets and the receipts for an exact number. But I've looked them over several times and from I remember the labor was what made the final price so high ($45k-50k IIRC). Now that's including a nice used, and unmolested, '06 SWB Rubicon with low mileage. I believe Dave (or some other AEV tech) has stated several times on the AEV Brute Discussion forum that he recommends finding a standard (non-LJ) TJ for the base vehicle (preferably one with a No hardtop). You're going to cut the frame and chop the Jeep in half, so the extra length does nothing for you. As you'll likely spend more cash buying a used LJ over a SWB TJ. And if you get one with a hardtop you have to gut that wiring harness ( for the wiper and defroster) and blank out the dash switches.

I researched a lot of info before I ever purchased this Brute. i knew pretty much what I was looking for. So when I saw this vehicle list on their used vehicle forum, I jumped on it. I would recommend starting with a Rubicon as it's already very capable offroad and the D44s with 4.10s will handle 33s easily. I think Brutes with anything smaller than 33s look odd.

But if you have the expertise and the required equipment to do this yourself, you could realistically do it for under 20k (if you already own the Jeep).

From what I've read, the big money pits on this build (besides the labor) were having the tub and bed Linex'd, the vehicle completely repainted, and the frame and under carriages coated with Chassis Black and POR15. The first two you pretty much have to farm out and the undercoating can be done at home if you have a spray gun.

Not sure. I purchased it off of AEV's used vehicle forum.

First parts arrived

New, unused TJ frame to build up from. My old frame has seen better days. Plan is to build this up with the Brute stretch, and my own long-arm attachment points and then have the whole thing blasted and re-coated like it's meant to be that way. Then we start disassembly of the Jeep and moving the parts over

Photoshop of the end goal - a Brute with rear tire carrier, utility rack, roof top tent, sunroof etc etc...

That one was for sale on the AEV forums awhile back. They've taken some parts off of it. Most notably the MOPAR winch bumper if memory serves. I can't remember if this one has a hemi or not.

How much are they asking?
