Anyone notice that AEV shows TJ Brute kits out of stock?
Wonder if that's for now or forever since the JK Double cab is in the spotlight.
I've got everything for my TJ Brute except the bed.
I was doing it a la cart as money allowed but wasn't sure if I wanted to drop $5k on the bed; I could buy another wrecked TJ for that much and combine the butts of both jeeps for a bed and have extra parts!
They are produced in batches, the next batch is currently in production.
Mine is #3 out of the new batch. 5 complete kits are already spoken for. Not sure what the batch size is.
They should be showing back in stock soon. I would suggest contacting them directly if you want to order just the bed. Would be a huge amount of metal work to join two TJ beds together and fill in all the gaps to make it look as good as a Brute bed. There's a few Photoshops out there of Brutes with lowered beds to match the Cab soft top / hard top join line and it really doesn't look right. The Brute bed's definitely a pricey part of the kit, but unless you plan on doing a custom utility box type camper unit on the back, it's definitely the nicest looking solution.
The Double Cab looks great, but it takes the best part of the Jeep, the break over angle and departure angle and makes it worse.
Then it adds a truck bed, which is good, but it's to small, and now you have a 4 door truck with a small bed that you can't use for very much, it's not a diesel truck so your not going to want to use it as a tow rig.
That being said I still like it, it's still cool, but I don't see them leaving the pavement very often. Not that they wouldn't do well off road, just the fact that your spending what $50,000 and it wont do as well off road as a standard JK and it can only be used as a light truck sooooo yeah.
Well it depends on where you live, if you live in Utah then I completely agree with you. On the other hand if you live here in Florida then the break over angle and departure angle are not a very big deal because it's all swamp and water
PAVED ROADS: Another fine example of useless government spending

Really? I just had 3 of them at Easter Jeep Safari. Can't say I ever had a problem. I posted videos to my YouTube page. Sorry I missed the hardest parts of the trail but I was to busy wheeling to video. Our camera crew I'm sure caught some of it. I know they've been editing it and releasing short videos here and there. I'm not saying its perfect for every trail or that it's the end all to anything. I am saying its a amazing vehicle and its hard to judge something that you've never had the chance to test, use or view in real life. Just my 2 cents.
