The only thing I don't like about the Brute is the rear overhang. One with a longer wheelbase to take care of that would be sweet.

Good point.

The wheelbase is already stretched quite a bit, but a better departure angle would be nice. I could definitely live with the one on there now though.

I just ordered the frame extension yesterday. I'm going to build me a Brute in stages as money allows. Snagged a wrecked '97 TJ last year. I'm into about $650 after selling the motor, trans, xfer case and so on.

I plan to build my own bed or a flatbed of some kind. Dinging up a $5k bed in the woods is silly.

This process is going to be so slow, I'm not even bothering starting a build thread yet.

Here's where I'm at now if anyone cares.

This may motivate you to build your own $62,000.00 is the asking price. The B!@# about it is, If I had $62 GRAND!! I'd drop it and drive it in a heart beat.

those are all sweet.

In terms of the bed, how much weight could they actually take? I mean is it the same as a normal jeep or would it be closer to what a ford ranger or dodge dakota could haul in the bed?

Spring rate isn't the only variable in the equation. You also have to consider the trailer-to-truck weight ratio, or the trailer would push you all over (and off of ) the road.

My 2-door JK has the same springs, engine, transmission, etc, of a 4-door, but is only rated for 2k towing, while the 4-door can handle 3500.
I've put a 2500 lb trailer behind it, and definitely felt it push the Jeep around a little.

I love tube fenders, but this jeep just looks so clean and factory with the hi-line kit, the stock looking fenders are still dang sexy.
anyone know what wheels those are??

No, I was told on another thread "LJ's on 37's or larger" that they are Hutchinson Monster locks. Done up in black matte or something like that.

They are the Hutchinson Rock Monsters and they do make them in that gun-metal finish.
