I have an aux output on my head unit, so I plug my ipod right into it.

Depending on your stereo (whether it accepts an aux input) this should work perfectly. Take a look at your stereo to make sure it will work.

I got one of these:

https://wire-tunes.com

$30 on ebay...

Works awesome and came with a mount that has about 8 different ways you can mount it. Mine is mounted to the dash right next to the stereo.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow when it is light out.

I have the iTrip for my ipod and i usually put in on shuffle and lose it under the seat til the battery runs out. It try to keep it on the dash or in the cup holder that never really works too well.
