I have an inverter and wouls like to mount it somewhere in my TJ. Anyone got pictures of a set up? Cool places to mount it and the way it's hooked up? Thanks

ive seen one mounted under the steering column, with wires for the plug face run to the center dash where that flat panel area is located.

Hey, I have an inverter as well. I have thought about just screwing it into the floor behind the shifter near the fire wall, But that is lame. I have seen a pic somewhere where a guy took the thing apart and hooked it up to his dash rewired it cut a hole in the dask ect looked clean, but to much work.

i put mine under my back seat. I have an XJ though. It's wired to a lumiated switch with a home style outlet in the rear. Perfect for enabling the use of a coffee pot, laptop computer, or christmas lights

Inverter

I installed mine on it's side screwed into the passenger side of the shifter console. I haven't hard-wire it yet...just plugged into the cigarette light.

It's not mine, but notice that the inverter plugs have been installed in place of the ashtray.

Actualy that is mounted in the blank space on 03's and up. On 97-02's there is an ashtray there. I saw this photo in another thread and thought it is agreat spot to put the inverter. You just take off the face plate and mount it in that spot then zip tie the main body of the inverter under the steering column. If I can get the ashtray cover to work right I think I'm going to do it that way.

curious? why not just use a portable inverter and plug it into the power outlet? I have seen them and it makes less work?

Because this way you dont have to deal with the inverter getting in the way. And it looks cool. And last but not least it is another mod that doesnt cost alot to do, which of course is the best kind of mod.
