I wanna see 1970 CJ5 Renegade 1's all conditions

I tried this under CJ & wasn't able to get a single response. I have an original 1970 Renegade 1 & have yet to see any others. I want to see your Renegade 1 in whatever condition it may be in. My Ren 1 has about 22,000 original miles & has never been modified. The only changes I have made have been for resto mod only. For example, period correct Delco Remy electronic ignition, New Best Top Super top, Kelsey Hayes 15x8 steel wheels, things like that. This picture is from the day it came out from under a tarp in the PO back yard. My apologoes in advance for the picture size, I'm still learning!

Wow that is nice. I have never seen that type of 8274 winch plate before. Other than that, it looks great. Rollbar might be after market tho.

Ya, i was thrown off by that one too. Original installer put it on backwards. I have since reinstalled it correctly.

C'mon people! I mean really! Is my Renegade 1 really worth that much since it's the only one left in existence? Maybe I better park it & put it in storage for future generations to admire.

Yep! Rare. Only 250 were ever made & I have the last one that's unmolested. Hooray for me. All the rest of them have been cut up or dismantled & turned into something else.

REALLY?

There used to be an orange Renegade I that I used to see around Crested Butte on my yearly trips out there. Have not seen it for the last couple of years though. There is another orange Renegade I here in Wichita that I see occasionally over in the Riverside area.

Great start Tacjeep99! How bout pics, guys & gals? I know they are out there. I just found string on a blue Renegade 1 that was rebuilt.

My intention with this plea is to get more info & pics to help document the Renegade 1 option package. This would help others who find R 1's that want to restore them since there, potentially are so few.

I bought a Renegade I last weekend, and would love some help learning a bit more about it. I've had some newer CJs but never anything this close to original. It caught my eye because of the color (matches our JK), and my wife and I thought it was too cool looking to pass up. So far all I know for sure is that the cherry bomb mufflers need to go!

Thanks!

Can't post a photo as I'm new to the forum. Here's a link:

There are a few more on that site as well.

Welcome. Very nice! Great color, mine is the same. I have to ask what kind of price tag did it come with. Can you tell if it's original or has it been restored? I see some modifications or changes from original. There are plenty of resources here for info to help confirm that you have a real Renegade 1. I would highly recommend checking out & joining www.earlycj5.net also. It is a great source for all things early Cj which is what we have.

Please checkout my thread regarding the Warn cable winch controls. You might be able to help me out with some information also.

Hi all! Just checking in again. Anyone having fun with their Renegade 1? Mine is still down. I got lost trying to do a rewire & have put it into storage. I miss the summer cruising with the top down & wandering to the local swap meets.
