I'll add my experience in and (maybe) get this thread back on track a little.

came across this guy while I was wandering the local ORVP, the driver was no where in sight when we found it, he had walked off to find help while his friends sat in the H3, guy didnt even open his door, he climbed out through the sunroof

Remember, before the Hummer brand was created and started competing with Jeep, Jeeps had tiny tires, weak axles, low ground clearance, no skids, and not even recovery hooks. They weren't offroad vehicles and Chrysler knew it. That's how "Jeeps are built not bought" came about... For decades you couldn't buy any Jeep with more ground clearance than a Dodge Caravan. Hummer embarassed Jeep into building offroad vehicles.
