The H2 is a modified Suburban, nothing more. When AM General brokered a deal with GM to build the "hummer" line everything but the look was scrapped and retooled to be built from the already existing Suburban line parts. If you expect a H2 or H3 to act like a Chevy 4x4, it will do that. If you expect it to act like a HMMWV, your going off of looks and not actual running gear.

Here is a nice anti hummer vid for ya (hummer owners caution: you might get your feelings hurt by this video): http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Hummer-H2-vs-Jeep_6609.htm

Two years as an OPFOR scout in Hohenfels damn near living out of a HMMWV, two years of running the ranges at Fort Knox in a HMMWV, and a year of playing out in the woods of Fort Campbell in a HMMWV. They are monsters offroad but Jeep's can go more places easier and less abusive on the driver than a HMMWV can. So I don't see why a psuedo suburban would do better at off roading than it's military counterpart. Just my

glad someone clarified that.

i believe the OP was looking for pics of H2s & H3s gettin recovered by a jeep.

The video link I gave does show hummers getting recovered by jeeps. Pretty funny stuff too. I believe several of the other peoples comments were on the subject so why are you sniping my comment?

The Yukon, scuse me, Hummer, is (usually) about over-compensating. It's a shame more people don't see that.

The white Hummer at the start of the video is an H1 though. How different is that from the HMMWV, other than not having a machine gun mounted?

I love the link you cited for the H2 - www...7_passenger_family_haulers/2003_hummer_h2_...

The H1 had alot fo the same design as a HMMWV so I'd say at first glance that guy sucks at wheeling. But here is a link to a comparison between the two for you to decide. I think they are civilianized cause of DOT standards but I cant say for certain what that does to its abilities offroad.
