Okay, its not a rescue picture but it would become one very fast if it was taken off road
Saw this in front of a house on my way home tonight. WHY would you spend the time and money to do this???

is there any logical explanation for the fact that when a jeeper calls out a hummer on its offroad capabilities that the owners immediately resort to "well, u just wish you could afford one"??? no.. thank you, really, im gonna go drive to the top of that mountain. i'll catch up with you at the mall later..

They want people to think they have money. When in reality, I could pick up a used H2 for the price I paid for my LJ.

This is slightly off topic, but I'm going to mention it anyway. Today I saw a H3 with what I would guess to be about 26" wheels and tires that had MAYBE an inch of sidewall. What I don't understand is that people buy a vehicle that is designed to be functional offroad, and then do stuff like this. What is the point? Is money and looks the only motivation? If it's looks, then I would call this a failure. It looked ridiculous.

ok, i love my jeep but in stock form it doesn't compare to and h1! you have to buy a rubicon to get anywhere close to a h1 stock offroad. the water fording, the break over angle, the side hill ability, they have us all beat. i have wheeled with h3's and they can go the same place my lifted ruby could. yeah they might be big hunks of plastic junk but so are the new jk's. hell the jk will be ifs in 2010! ifs also isn't that bad off road. a really well built ifs will go just as far as a solid axle front end. go out in the really deep snow with a solid front and you turn into a plow. look at the crazy canadians, they build alot of snow jeeps with ifs and 502 ci motors.

I think if the Hummer had that lift and tire package, it would hold it's own.

This: High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) (M998 Truck)

is not the same as this: 2003 Hummer H2 - First Drive Review

The H2 is a modified Suburban, nothing more. When AM General brokered a deal with GM to build the "hummer" line everything but the look was scrapped and retooled to be built from the already existing Suburban line parts. If you expect a H2 or H3 to act like a Chevy 4x4, it will do that. If you expect it to act like a HMMWV, your going off of looks and not actual running gear.

Here is a nice anti hummer vid for ya (hummer owners caution: you might get your feelings hurt by this video): http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Hummer-H2-vs-Jeep_6609.htm

Two years as an OPFOR scout in Hohenfels damn near living out of a HMMWV, two years of running the ranges at Fort Knox in a HMMWV, and a year of playing out in the woods of Fort Campbell in a HMMWV. They are monsters offroad but Jeep's can go more places easier and less abusive on the driver than a HMMWV can. So I don't see why a psuedo suburban would do better at off roading than it's military counterpart. Just my

Jeep's =
