Optional recovery and armor aside, small tires and weak axles were the norm for Jeeps until the JK. No Hummer ever came with an axle as crappy as the Dana 35 or tires smaller than 32".
Jeep also hasn't made an wrangler with IFS, poor visability, and a ****ty 5 cyl.

Okay, this isn't a picture but a funny story. After showing my sisters husband pictures of me in my JK off roading through some deep water and mud, he asked if I had drain holes and I said yes. And then he proceeded to told me that Hummers ARE the best off road vehicle in the WORLD. He said when they go through water, they float across because they are so good offroad.

Now, this guy isn't exactly the smartest man in the world. But how freaking stupid do you have to be to think that hummers FLOAT? I had to leave because I wanted to laugh at him.

So picture this:
A Hummer crossing a river, floating, with all four tires splashin' water because THEY ARE SPINNING FROM NO TRACTION!!!!!!!!! Sorry, some people are stupid

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

It's true, overpriced vehicles don't always mean to have good quality. That Hummer is already a proof.

This thread is full of people generalizing the Hummer brand by using the H2, not the H1 or H3.

H2's are designed to appeal to the soccer mom crowd who want Hummer brand, H3 and H3T come with lockers stock. Hummer has a LOT of things that Jeep will never see, ie central tire inflation. Wheeling is 90% driver, 10% vehicle. I have seen people in a near stock XJ outwheel someone in a Rubicon, there are obstacles that will stop a Jeep and not a Hummer, and vice versa.

There are people on this forum that could afford to build and wheel a Hummer H1 because it didnt suit what they want in a vehicle, there are H1 owners who bought one because it is so versatile and suits what they need. To be honest, most of the people in this thread come off as small, petty people who are under the impression the comparison is straight across and anyone who affroads without a Jeep is lower than they are.

The closest I've come is attempting to pull a non-functioning 4x4 Yukon XL out of the sand at the Outer Banks. His front wheels weren't turning so he was only RWD and had dug himself down pretty deep before I got there. Hooked up a rope and tried to pull as he gunned it. Unfortunately the only thing that happened was my tires dug down in the sand getting me completely stuck. No lockers meant my axles were fully flexed out since only one wheel was spinning front and rear. He finally got pulled out by a utility truck, then I was able to drive right out of the hole I was in.

Can't wait until this August, I'm going to go on the beach hunting for a H2 or H3 to pull out. Only thing I was sucessful in rescuing was a Honda Pilot buried to the diffs.
