I took a black sharpie to my Maxxis Bighorn spare and the white outline that are mounted toward the inside of my rig of my Goodyear MTRs about a year ago and it still looks great. It has a little blueish tint to it but not really noticable at all.
I purchased my spare and it was already mounted white letters out so I tried the sharpie to try to avoid having to pay to have the tire remounted and balanced. It looked so good I took it to the white letters on my MTRs eventhough they were mounted inside. So far so good.

Your correct.....Not directional but they are asymmetrical. There is a correct and incorrect way to mount them. Funny thing....Tire companys have been using Kevlar and diffrent Silica's for years. It's nothing new.

This is true. The only thing that sets them apart is that they obtained the rights from Dupont to use the name Kevlar in their advertising. However, I still like the tread and don't really care about white or black letters, which is why I am looking heavily at those for my next set, even if I go with 33s. It is more about function for me and, from what I have seen, they perform well the the terrain here, unlike their earlier version.

there will not be any reall loss of off road capabilities... it's like mounting a bogger backwards... yes the cuping is different but it will still do fine...plus the way the tire looks... i would rather have the more agressive side out, so i can use it more...u know, point and shoot...

So from what i have gather'd from this thread is that I can turn my 33'' MT/R w/ Kelvar so the white is on the inside with no problems. I wanted the black out but I went with what Discount tire told me. Also I would like to add that I can't for the life of me get these tires balanced. I have had them road force balance twice and dynamic and static balanced like three times and I still have shimmy in the front end. I also can't seem to get the inside to wear. About an inch on the inside just seems to not be touching the ground. I have messed with the air pressure and chalk test and cant get it to work out.

I aired mine down to 20 lbs and there was still tread that was not touching the ground on 8" wheels but that was on both the inside and outside. I am surprised that you would be having wear on the outside and not the inside.

BTW, here is a pic of mine with the MT/Rs:

No, you can not mount them with the letters in. As stated several times in this thread, these tires are not directional, but they are asymmetrical - there is an inside and an outside, and this is clearly marked on the side of the tire.

Anyway, I'm running these in the 37X12.50R17 flavor. We made a trip to Hot Springs a couple of weeks back, and I was very pleased with the performance. We got some rain on Saturday morning, so we had a little mud in addition to the slick rocks.

i called goodyear and they said what sets it apart from other tires is how much kevlar they used. they're goal when designing the tire was to virtually if not all together eliminate steel in the tires. by doing so they have designed an incredibly strong and durable tire that is wickedly light. a 37x12.50x17 tire only weighs 55 lbs - a comparable BFG KM2 is sitting around 80

JBWoods, is it just me or does it look like your front end is not flexing very much. In these pics, it looks like your tires are off the ground but I cannot tell if tell if the tires are on the rocks or not.

It certainly isn't the Antirock, as spyder6 suggested, since I don't have one.

sardog - If you look real close at the first pic you can just see that the driver front is just starting to come down off a rock. In the second pic, I was at a very steep angle trying to get up a ledge and the front end was real light.
