Need some help here!

First time Jeep owner took the Nestea Plunge by buying a 85 CJ7 that needed major work....

After roughly a year of trial & error (and countless coldie's in garage while scratching head) - I'm finally sending her to paint in mid-July. Hindsight, I would have been better off w/a new tub...but actually have got pretty good with the hotwrench (aka torch) and mig welder. Here's the question:

After paint, I'm lifting via a 2.5" from 4WD. I need to make a tire/wheel decision!!! Style of wheel isn't important (I'll find something I like) - but the size of wheel is. W/a 2.5 lift on a CJ7, what tire size should I go with? I've been all over this site reading & gawking for 6-8 months and the thing I've learned is that there's very few pics of CJ7's to make a tire/wheel/size decision from.

SO.....Show your rig. Sell me on why I should go with 15x8/32X11.50 or with 15x8/33x12.50 or 15x10/33x12.50. Pics very much needed. I can't handle the fact that I could drop 1300-1500 on something that I don't like cause I got the wrong size!!!

if you get 32's you will be unhappy that you didnt get 33's. If you get 33's, you'll be happy for a while, then wish you had 35's. Don't ask my why it works, it just does.

BTW, I had 32's on my cj5 with a souped up 304. That thing hauleedddd It was going to get 35's, but it got sold instead

this is the 4wd hardware 4" lift kit with 32x11.5s on a cj7

you could run 32s on the 2.5 and it would look more proportional.


as you can see he coudl fit 33s but he has the 258 with the 2.72 gears.

here is my 82 cj7 with a 4" lift and 33x13.5 on 15x10 rims i love it so far.
