and this one of an area close to where I backpack sometimes...

and I just like this pic so I figured I'd post it up since I'm camping in it...

There should be a crapload of State Forest areas in Texas... that's where we camp. In CA, anyways, there are lots of them that don't even have plumbing yet they are still State controlled.

Tons in Texas. Go to the parks and wildlife website and take your pick. Recommend big bend.

what part of Texas are you in? You should head over to New Mexico. Try the Sacramento and Guadalupe mountain ranges which is part of the Lincoln National Forest. It's not too far from Las Cruces and El Paso. Lots of dispersed backcountry camping to be had there but Texas should have plenty of places I'd think ..BLM and National forest land. Maybe up by Big Bend. Just hit up the National Forest website for your area and start looking. Buy some National forest maps and study them looking for areas with the elevation you want and lots of roads in the "unimproved road" or "all Weather" roads and then just head out. Once you're in the general area of the roads you found on the map take one and just start driving till you find some side roads off that one.

This was up by Cloudcroft NM in August.

The swing away brackets are just square. The wheels bolt onto spacers (like what you'd bolt onto your tailgate to space the rear tire out further.
So the point is I can run with one spare and two jerry's or four jerry's and or two spares.
The locking points have since been adjusted and makes NO NOISE at all. Compared to my mates TJ with a ARB rear swing away mine is SILENT.
I leave the spares on cause it's the only one I've ever seen ...
That is freaking killer, well done man!!

The Heep and tent, which everyone came to call the "Resort", at Stony Pond this summer

We had a good 10 or so people in two sites, EZ-ups all over, I didn't grab any pictures of the setup though, my buddy snapped this pic and all my electronics were off for 3 days
