laugh - tell me about it - NO ONE could hack going with me - just me & the 11 year old - toughed it out. No electric, no running water, no outhouse, naddaa.

We had to pour what water (which we had to bring) we had into pots for melting (shown below) in the morning!

I brought a perk pot and backpacking stove into the vestibule before we turned in for the night - this way we didnt have to get all the way outta bags for morning java!

The rangers - who we didnt see for a day & a half; told us by phone we were prohibited from heading down the trails "no matter how high your lift is, or how big your tires are" -
This they said right after I told them I had a JEEP WRANGLER...

We took a hike to see why...

Ocala National Forest with my YJ.

It stormed the whole night and the cheap $20 bivy tent from Sports Authority didn't let one drop of water in

vfrpilot, I can understand the blurring of the face to protect someone's ID, but what is it that is blurred to the left of the ice?

Thats just a phantom lens spot... not intentional..

although sometimes when I blur... because I often work from the laptop/trackpad, I get an accidental blur spot while selecting

Can't knock that...

looks like the SA tent is at least a three-season (wrap-up floor).

This [below] one (Eureka Timberline) has been on many trips/mountain-tops with me over the last 20 years
- in fact, I had planned on taking my Eureka Expedition Geo-Dome but it was too large to self-heat and dosent have a vestibule. The Timberline has a floorless vented one which is ideal for boots/morning breakfast & coffee.
=-= Below is a shot of the laptop between us (son's Xmas gift that he just had to bring with) with " A Haunting in Connecticut" playing..
Notice I had an mini oil Lantern hanging in the vestibule shining thru the 3/4 zipped up front door window... very cool when the wind chill is 3 degrees and it sounds like an animal

I AM a die-hard outdoorsman... we have a Everest base-camp climb planned for May that I'm trying to get the boy excused from school for

Seriously, its great to see pictures like this. The times I have spent, and still spend, doing things with my son (now 20) yield some of the finest memories I will ever have.

its a dyin thing... actually spending TIME with your kids... as opposed to MONEY.

Many thought we were crazy headin into the woods that close to the New Year and right after Christmas... bvut its what we do. And he "says" thats what he'll do with his kids. but he's still a puppy - which is why I'm plantin the seeds.

Again, thanks for the appreciations bud - Happy New Year!

Not the lens spot in the trees, the swirly one near the ice, just about level with his shoulder.

I am unable to send you a PM because your box is full so I will send you it here, I was looking through a recent thread that was reviewing jeep trailers and stumbled across yours. If you would do me a favor and tell me a few details about your trailer, like how much it cost and where you found it. I am very interested in looking for a trailer like yours to do weekend trips in. I assume you had yours built and I would appreciate any further information you can share with me about your model.

I appreciate your help and hope to one day own one similar to yours

thanks!

That's a micro hurricane just making landfall. Some ground squirrels and other ground dwelling rodents were about to have a real bad day for sure just after that photo was taken. We get those down here on the Gulf of Mexico all the time in the late summer. First one I've ever seen form over ice though. Must be that global warming...errrr, I mean global climate change Al Gore has been warning us about.
