I just left it on. Eventually I'm going to ditch the red, and the paint wasn't exactly meticulous on my TJ anyway... but for what it's worth, most everyone tends to leave the grill on. Too much work to remove it for some spray paint

Good move! I think it's a cheap and relatively easy way to drastically alter the look of your Jeep. I've had a LOT of compliments and after I did mine, I started to see a few other TJ's in the area driving around with black grills

I'm using plastidip. That way if I don't like it, (which I most likely will like it) I can take it off.

I've never seen it not look good on a TJ, but I guess that's a good idea. I used to refuse to so much as put a sticker on one of my vehicles, but for some reason I didn't hestitate attacking my Jeep with a spray can. It's definitely a big enough committment to where you should put serious thought into it, as the typical spray paint can't just be wiped off or undone.

How hard is Plastidip to use? I was thinking about coating my center bezel on the dash with it. The previous owner did a terrible red spray paint job on the bezel and I'd like to either re-do it, or start over with a fresh surface that I can do whatever I want with.

Came out great bro! I've never been big on the partially painted/textured fenders but I think you did a great job and it came out looking awesome! I'm glad you went through with it.

You happy with the outcome?

I simply painted the chrome grille overlay that came on mine....took all of two coats, and isn't the best job I've ever done...but I hated the chrome:
