As it is today after being built in 1990, followed by a lift and Ford 5.0 in 1993.

The boy in the older pic is 24, and the boy in the newer pic was born the day after
buying the Jeep.

I replaced the tub in 1990 with an AJ's Deluxe. Same one on there today.

I thought about changing the exhaust but this is a Mall Crawler. I use my XJ's
for trail ridng and DD.

Sure, but as a "mall crawler" (form > function) don't you think it would look better hidden under the drivetrain somewhere? Just imo it isn't horrible looking, just would look better tucked away.

My little TJ grew up a bit, but has more to go

Well here is my TJ on a budget. Since I do not have hords of cash just laying around my living room; I wanted to get the most for my dollar. When I orginally got my TJ it had Warn bumpers front and rear, and 31 inch tires from the dealrship, fogged up rear and side windows, and thats about it. What I have inculded is what I bought compaired to the popular alternatives. I went to 4 wheel parts for the best comparison. This is to show what you can do with very little money

Before

After

Fender Flairs
TAG fender flairs from ebay my price is $199
Bushwacker flairs are $454.99
Savings is $255.99

Review
These flairs are made from the same plastics of the " new " bushwackers. They dont get brittle when the weather gets cold, and unlike the smittybilt ones they are no drill and are not textured. I would say an awsome alternative that look just like the bushwackers

Winch
Smittybilt XRC 8 V2 (series wound) is $299.99
MileMarkr PEC8 (perm mag) is $449.99
Savings is $150

Review
This winch is far superior to the Mile Marker, in reality I would have compaird it to the Warn8K since that really its closest in the class, but there are a few people I think warn pays to flame any other winch than warn. This winch allowed me to pull a XJ on 35s out of a muddy soupy ditch slightly uphill, that was up to the axles. Its not fast but its series our, 5.5 HP motor is strong.

Lift
Rough County 2.5 inch lift with 2.2 monotube shocks is $299.95
OME 2.5 inch lift kit with twin tube shocks $809.99
Savings is $510.04

Review
My RC lift is amazing, it comes with Monotube shocks, progressive coils and the rest you need to get it working. It does not includ the track bar, but my axel only shifted about 1/2 an inch. I have ridden in the OME, and found the RC ride to be very similar. Overall the RC lookes better, and provides a much btter value for the dollar

Stering Stablizer
Rough country 2.2 monotube is $50
Rancho twintube is $50
Savings is $0

Review
I think the RC and the Rancho are about th same, however that the the price is the same it saved me from the bad 1970s' white was priceless

6 part light stone guards
Steel Horse EBAY price is 39.99
4 wheel parts 12.99 each x 6 = 77.94
Savings is $37.95

Review
Stone guards they work, not much else to say

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-J...Q5fAccessories

Tinted side and rear windows

New bestop tinted plastic heat sealed by auto apoulstery shop was $180
New tinted side and rear window kit is $242.99
Savings is $62.99

Review
Its heat sealed like the factory, and the new plastic has the Bestop logo heatsunk into it.

Rocker guards

VWrailings form EBAY $175.00- $60 dollars refund =$115.00+ $100 dollars powdrcoat=$215.00+ getting the things we mashined, worked, cut, and drilled by rockware+200=415.00 ( doah)
Getting it done right for Rokmen and powder coated $344.99
Saving -$70.01

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JEEP-...1%7C240%3A1318

Review
ok, my sliders had the wrong angle for the flairs cut, they were too long, only 3 mounts for th body side, no mouting at all on the bottom, tones of slag. Basically these things sucked so bad I almost threw them away. I took them to rock ware, they cut them sown, drilled 2 more holes on the sid, and welded on underbody tabs to mount to the under body. My bad on this one, go with the big brand here

Summary

All in all I did much better for the same quality parts, I belive the winch is more on par with the Warn, and the sliders were a bad idea

Final cost budget build is $1483.93
Final cost name brand build $ 2430.99 with the mile marker, $2753 with the Wark 8K
Grand savings of 946.96 or $1016.97 if I would have bought the A to Z rockers

How did you get the Jeep decal off or covered up on the sides? I've got a JK X and I'd like to scrape the decal off, but I'm worried about scratching the paint...
