Rockin'Red, I LOVE your YJ. That is what I would do if I had $50k to dump into my Jeep.

Unii.... I like your YJ, but why all the pics of the rice burners??

I don't think I posted these, but let me know if I'm wrong.

Thanks, appreciate it. But I do not have near $50k into it. If someone offered me $35k for it, I would sell it on the spot

I have yet to drive it in the jeep yet, waiting on my trans, but the s-10 that it was in before could keep up with the new gtos on 33s

You must have a lot of good welding equipment then. If my Jeep wasn't a DD and I had money for axles/tires/gears/etc. I would love to build it like yours. God knows the snow around here gets deep enough.

Then again, if I had lots of money I'd have a fleet of YJ's all built for different methods of fun.

Ripper, your YJ looks awesome too. That 6.0 must be awesome. I thought briefly about putting an 8.0 in mine because it was on sale at the local junkyard for around $300. Someday it'll get a V8, but only after this engine dies, and if I can't find a good 4.2 Chevy |6 to put in it. (that engine rocks too)

Chevy 4.2? As in the aluminum block Vortec 4200? We had that in our '03 Trailblazer EXT. It was decent on the power, but we are getting better fuel economy (and power ) in our '09 Suburban with the 5.3L than we were in the considerably smaller and lighter Trailblazer. I would say go V8 or go diesel, but not 6 cyl.

I got a buddy with the 4.2 chevy in his tj. It seems to make decent power but its not a huge upgrade from the I6. And the I6 is far more durable from what ive witnessed. I agree go v8 if you want to swap. You'll thank yourself later

It makes way better power than the 4.0 in the Jeep. Better than the 4.3 Vortec as well. However, you're right. The 5.3, 5.9 or diesel would all be better choices. If they made a good smaller diesel I'd be all over it, but people talk about a Rabbit engine? Seriously? That thing is tiny. I would rather try to squeeze a 10L diesel engine into my bay than put a 1.8 that won't be any better than the 4.0.

You're talking about the 4.3 Vortec. The 4.2 is an I6 and it's got a lot of guts. The 4.3 V6 isn't an upgrade from the 4.0 I6 - it makes the same amount of power, gets the same gas mileage, and yes, it's less durable.
