So are these processed from a single shot aka "faux HDR"?

What language are you speaking ? I have no idea what this means.

The pics were found on photobucket.

I would like to learn, as soon as I find some free time.

its really easy to do really. simples way is by taking 3 pictures. one at normal exposure, one over exposed, and one under exposed. of course while having the camera on a tripod so it doesnt move (or if you have real steady hands) from there upload them onto your computer. then in photoshop you go to file/automate/merge to HDR. itll merge em together. then go to image/mode and change it from 32 bit to 16 bit. youll have a pop up window and you can mess with some settings. then click ok. then if can use photomatix by going to filter/photomatix and youll get a new pop up window with a BUNCH of things to play with. when you are done click ok. from there you will have to go to image/mode again and change the image down to 8 bit in order to save it as a .jpg file

this is of course assuming you have photoshop CS3 and Photomatix. in other photoshops it could be slightly different where everything is but it should be to hard to figure out

This looks like it could be fun. I cheated, this photo was shot in RAW, then processed at -2,-1, 0, +1. +2, just to give it a try. I had no idea what I was doing, but so what. I was using Photomatrix...or trying to anyway.

This second attempt used the Photmatrix HDR detail enhancer...

It looks nice and sharp. I think i would try to lighten it up to bring out the grill.
