Two questions: How'd you get that close to an F-22, and did you have to mask out all the water in order to keep it looking nice when you did the HDR blend?

3JeepBill, the photos you posted of the F-16 and F-22 is a violation of OPSEC. Especially the 22. They look to be at Nellis AFB, which is where I am stationed. Unless you got permission from public affairs and got a media pass (which I doubt), I'd advise removing them from this thread.

I highly doubt those photos are in violation of anything. I've taken MANY photos of aircraft and never had a problem. People take photos of planes at air shows and on their bases all the time and post them.

Do you really think that I could get that close to an F22 (Holloman) or even the F16 (Nellis) without both PAO approval as well as having an escort by my side? So, yes, I had both PAO approval as well as a flightline photo pass. I share your OPSEC concerns and would never post pictures that were not previously approved. The "rule" around the jets is: "no inlets, no exhausts, no open panels." You see no violations here.

Google "F22 images" and you'll see thousands; a few of which will be mine.

Again, thank you for your concern.

Always by my side:

In response to rha600, that is because they are declassified...

Bill- Regarding the tail, I've always been told otherwis, in the fact that it can't be visible unless it's declassed. And I had a few speculations that you might have been say..a crew chief, contractor or even a SecFo troop. And I didn't know whether or not you could get that close..it would of heavily depended on if you are military and what career field you're in or if you are civilian. But, we have both over here at Nellis (16 & 22), by the way. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers, I'll leave it at this.

Absolutely no feathers ruffled here. Can't fault you for being concerned. And I'll leave it at this: thank you for your service to this great country of ours.

I thought they were mostly declassified. I thought you still aren't allowed to see in the bomb bay. Your picture surprises me because the bay is open.

Also, nice Unimog.

Early in every airshow demonstration they show off the weapon's bays; "...ladies and gentlemen, if you've ever wondered where the bombs go, here is your answer...."

Well, that's neat. Do they really open and close in less than a second?

Never timed them, but yes, they are fast to open and close.

Here, time them yourself at about the 5:30 mark:
