(Edit: Also, if you look under your Jeep, generally an HDR will reveal all these components/areas hidden by shadow/low light. All of it is still darkened out though. This picture looks no different than something I could fire off with a single picture without bracketing/tone mapping any number of images.) #2 looks good, though again, doesn't look HDR (noting the over exposure on the ground etc.)
Are you bracketing 3 or 5 images? All of ^ is intended as constructive criticism btw, not trying to single you out. If anything, you have some of the few photos in the thread worth pinpointing for constructive criticism. The rest aren't even remotely HDR.
And just for reference, another HDR of my Jeep.

There's no way you can make a "true" HDR without editing.
An example with the jeep

Exactly my point. Where was the second to last one taken? Sort of reminds me of the Anasazi dwellings, apart from these not being engraved into the side of a cliff.
Also, nice to see someone else rocking Canyons on their lifted rig
In hindsight, he may be mistaken in that he thinks the "HDR" preset on his camera equates to a genuine HDR image. Seems a number of people make that mistake nowadays, with the increasing popularity of HDR photography, a lot of cameras now come with that as a preset. All it actually does, however, is make a few alterations to color/contrast to give the color effect of an HDR, but nothing else. What makes an HDR and HDR is the increased dynamic range of focus/contrast, but it seems few people realize that.

Image was taken at Valley of Fire state park. It's about a hour outside Las Vegas. The cabins were built in the '30s by the conservation corps for passing travelers.
I love my Canyons. Though I would rather have ravines. I need some spacers.
