Edit: I found the other thread with more Ford GP goodness.

Picked it up today Best $300 bucks I ever spent.

Complete minus the chopped windsheild and headlights. Best of all - its solid and up until 2 years ago ran.

It's pretty sad to see al those jeeps not restored and just left to rot but that's what the owners want

Nice find and a perfect addition to this thread - digging that chain wrapped NDT.

Plans?

Damn you I can never find one of that era that doesnt look like swiss cheese and they want $3,000 + for it. Good find and save my friend especially from the Midwest.

It is. Ive looked at nearly 2 dozen Willys over the last few weeks. Almost every one was owned by a junk hording farmer that said "im gonna fix er up one day", keep in mind he is 80 and then the guys that think its worth $5K in parts that I just walked away from.

Now I know how the American Pickers feel when they are throwing fist fulls of money at an item and the people just think its priceless.

Its got chains on all 4 tires - it was a farm vehicle till it stopped starting, then it was just pushed behind the barn - probably with a tractor - thats why the tires are all off the rims.

My LJ is the money pit. This is just going to be a fun little project on the side. K.I.S.S. build. Im just going to get it running and drivable again, rock it rusty and crusty... long term goal will be frame off paint and body work. But, its a jeep, im sure my plans will change and it will become another money pit. I do feel pretty awesome about saving it from cetain rust death.

Something like JF user Mike576 has...

Yep, that's his.

The first pic I posted in that same post (the one in the garage) is his newest build.

He has a build thread for it on Pirate as well.

High quality builds for sure!
