I want to see what you have. Looking for ideas. My goal is to run 35s w/ 2" suspension and 1" body, tube fenders, limit the up travel, cut the rear a bit.
1 point difference in ratio is equal to 1%. To find the percentage difference in ratios it is necessary to divide, not subtract. In order to find the difference divide one ratio by the other and look at the numbers to the right of the decimal point and how far they make the answer different from 1.00. for example 3.54 ÷ 3.50 = 1.01 or 1%, not 4% different. And likewise 4.11 ÷ 4.09 = 1.005 or only a 1/2% difference. These differences are about the same as a 1/3" variation in front to rear tire height which probably happens more often than we realize.
Geared at 4.88s. 2.5l planning on doing a stretch I want to run 37s. So I need to do a different axle up front. So I will probably go waggy 44 with 5.89s or 5.38s. Not sure yet. Debating on whether or not to sell my 8.8 and do a different axle in the rear as well.
Bouncing with sudden traction through a rock garden or up a steep hill will find the weak link in the drivetrain. AX5 cases do crack open under those circumstances.
For a 2.5 or 2.4 TJ, a good swap is an AX15 with a Klune behind it, and relocate the engine forward the length of the Klune.
Thank you! Running only about 3" of lift, you'll need to extend your bump stops. I plan on building some high fenders so I can ditch some bump stop up front. There are a lot of pictures in my build thread. There's a link to it under my post.
I like it too. What kind of springs? In fact what do you guys think are the best springs now around 2" of lift? I have 2.5" ome zj/lj springs and would like to go 1" lower and preferably softer. Thinking they're at least 3"+ though. Something low that stretches like a slinky! Thanks.
Still need to high line the rear flares. There is 5" up travel there. But only 4" till it hits the flare. High lining the flare to match the front is next.

I don't care if it ever sees a trail or not. That thing is a masterpiece. I just plain want to see it.
Can't beat fall wheeling
