You are right... I do want to see an XJ on 35s on 3" of lift, though. I don't think I've seen one yet.

A bit too low for my taste, but gets the job done!

I think bigbike is running 3 inch and 35's, he is on JF. Also checkout KTMracer419, at least one of his jeeps was on 2.5 and 37's.

38's on my M715, it does currently have a shackle flip in the rear, but i plan to undo it

I have to agree with both sides to this. Different conditions call for different set ups. If it wasn't for the ability of my Jeep to flex in both directions and keep all 4 wheels down, my brothers Jeep with a locked front would leave me in the dust. While a wider wheel base may not change your center of gravity, it will help with your tipping point for a larger lift, which then will keep the body out of the mud and thus less drag in the mud.
