i would think the 2.4 even with 5.xx gears and 37s would make you hate your life. but i may be wrong...

The 2.5/AX5, 5.86's, and 37's actually looks like a decent combo. Running 2950rpm at 65mph, crawl ratio is 62.5:1...etc. Seems pretty decent IMO.

I would be more worried with that ax5 and deep gears with big tires imho.

Eh even geared that deep, I don't see the 2.5 making enough torque to break it.

Bouncing with sudden traction through a rock garden or up a steep hill will find the weak link in the drivetrain. AX5 cases do crack open under those circumstances.

For a 2.5 or 2.4 TJ, a good swap is an AX15 with a Klune behind it, and relocate the engine forward the length of the Klune.

Time to get this thread back on track with some pictures..

1" body lift, xj leafs in rear, 1 3/4" spring spacers up front. 98" wheelbase on 35s.

Bouncing with any drivevtrian is a bad idea. The 2.5 is awesome for this very issue. 2.5....you either get traction or stall

Thanks a lot! It is relatively clean, I hope to keep it that way.Its kindof tough to balance keeping it clean and wheeling it though.

Stability, simplicity and budget. If I were to build another, I'd probably put leafs in the rear again.

Thank you! Running only about 3" of lift, you'll need to extend your bump stops. I plan on building some high fenders so I can ditch some bump stop up front. There are a lot of pictures in my build thread. There's a link to it under my post.
