35s or larger on 3" or less (LCG Jeeps)

I want to see what you have. Looking for ideas. My goal is to run 35s w/ 2" suspension and 1" body, tube fenders, limit the up travel, cut the rear a bit.

BTW I have a TJ, I dont care to see other jeeps.

i dont get it. it seems to me that this would make the jeep basically usless. i mean those jeeps have almost zero wheel travel

My jeep has no extensions on the bumpstops, So I'm still getting 100% of the stock uptravel.
I also have shocks suited to 2" of lift (OME), So I'm getting an additional 2" of down travel.
So with my 35" tires I'm maxing out my 2" OME shocks (in both compression and extension). This is the same as someone with 31" tires and 2" OME shocks would be doing...
Can you really not see the benefit of bigger tires?

It's about clearance not flex.

Well my jeep has the same belly clearance as a jeep on 31s and 2" lift. It also has a better approach, departure and break over angle, and 2" more clearance under the diffs. The only clearance I need more of right now is belly. Which a tummy tuck will do for me.
Why would one stay on 31s when there is room for 35s???

If you want 6" of lift then get 6" of lift... But don't get 6" of lift BECAUSE you want to fit 35s... You can fit 35s with 3" of lift and still have the exact same wheel travel as someone with 33s and 3" of lift. (except you got another 1" of clearance over him)

edit: What I'm trying to say is that clearance can be had from other things apart from lifting your jeep 6".
If you need more approach and departure then push the wheels back/forward further.
If you need more break-over then tuck the tummy up.
More sill clearance? boatside it.

yeah, i've heard that before. i'm running open diff's and an auto tranny for now, so that with a little throttle control should help it last for now. also, my 305 is wounded (sticking valve). we'll see how long the rear lasts after i swap to the 350 i built for it.

Unforunately some guys who haven't been around wheeling long think that the flex is the only way to wheel... Those Ramp queen days are a thing of the past. It doesn't matter how much flex you have. 3-4 inches uptravel is optimum, droop is where its at. Thats why I personally am a fan of leafs, but Lukethedorks setup is amazing. If I had a TJ that is very similar to what I would do. Proper wheel placement, ground clearance and a drivetrain that can handle your setup will take you a long long way. Low Center of Gravity rigs aren't new at all but it seems as most large companies steer you away from small lifts. Offering 4, 5, 6 inch lifts and higher are mainstream and for some reason sell. The more you research the more you will want to stay around the LCG. A jeep on 35's can tackle almost any trail in the continental U.S.

Not 35s, but no lift. I plan on going to 35s when I eventually regear and swap an 8.8 in and kill my 33s (so 2-3 years)



More trimming and less flares to come during spring

Thanks for the pics guys. Mine is still a work in progress. I dont want anymore lift that is for sure. Limiting the up-travel doesnt limit your down travel which is most of your flex anyways. Its also a small price to pay for the extra clearance.

Here is my jeep.

35" KM2s and 2.5" of lift.

Looks good but you look quite limited on the up travel. Why not tube fender or flat fender the front and trim the rear a bit?

Any flex pics with the current setup?

Yeah, that doesnt look good. Just looks like you have too big of a tire for the lift and that will probably hurt you more than help you.
