I have 265/75r/16 M/T on 16x8 Moabs with 5" back spacing on my 04 Rubicon with a 2.5" lift and no rubbing or clearance problems.

My flares are an inch wider then stock TJ's and the tread is inside the flares and the outside of the sidewall is just outside of the flares. The pictures I have make the tires look a little off. I hope these help.

I know you said TJ.... but I'm a pic whore

265/75/16 Duratracs on 3.5" lift, the tires rubbed my control arms, so I installed some 1.5" wheel spacers and that took care of the problem.

pretty much any photo of my jeep. I have the 265/75/16 Hankook MT RT03, had them on the rubicon wheels and now the beadlocks, both 16x8. 2" suspension lift and 1.25" body lift in these photos, similar size as your 3". The last photo has just the 2" suspension lift, no body lift, and flares before they were trimmed. Fender flares trimmed in all the other photos.

The tires have been serving me quite well, the only reason I'm looking to replace them is because I want something larger.

As you can tell, I love to take photos Plenty more here: www.buckshotsblog.com
