Windrock, Feb. 21, 2009

Had some good wheelin' today. Weather ended up pretty nice. My Jeep did really well considering the lack of lift (and sliders, lockers, etc ) and we had a great time, minus one frustrating hour of sitting on a nasty rock while someone had a knot in their winch line. Majority of the pictures are from Trail 3, by the way, because by the time we finally got off of it I wanted to make sure we got off the mountain a little before dark in case the vibration was more than just the TC skid.

Starting out the day:

Few rocks, nothing crazy:

Moving out the way so someone could come winch out Sporer65

Hung up for the first time:

After finally getting off that rock, we get about 100 yards down the trail to realize it dead-ends so we had to turn around and hit the damn thing again!

The back side of the rock:

I managed to plant my crossmember right on the vertical rockface, sticking myself solid. Ended up taking quite a bit of winching, and then jacking the Jeep up and dragging it off. Bent the heck out of the TC skid, to the point that it pushed the TC back a smidge, causing a nasty vibration the rest of the day. Once we got off the trails I dropped the skid and the vibration went away. I'll get pics of how bad the skid is bent tomorrow.

Posing time!

I remember that rock and dead end well - the first time I ended up on that trail it was really muddy and it was really difficult for me to get turned around at the end ... luckily didn't get stuck.

Looks like you all had fun, there's a group of us going next weekend if your up for another adventure!

Yeah the turn-around was pretty sloppy, but not too terrible. We did have one guy sink himself pretty good in the big mudhole that has a bypass to the right, but I unfortunately missed it. I don't think I'll make it out next weekend either as I'll be Auburn for the weekend, plus I need some Jeep recovery time to re-mount my molested skid plate.

Here are some more pictures for y'all.

You definitely should. I saw y'all's pictures from Hillz-n-Hollarz, and Windrock should be much less sloppy

That's a true story. The first time I went to Windrock was in a 2wd Tacoma right after a snow melt. Needless to say it came back covered, and was stuck plenty
