The other narrow trails like Imogene and Black bear and Ophir all had enough room on the lower parts, and in higher areas you can usually see oncoming traffic due to the lack of trees. Oh and the narrowist part of Black Bear (switchbacks) is all one way - downhill. I wouldn't stress about it, but be comfortable with possibly backing up if needed, and look up/down the trail whenever you have a chance.

p.s. - how is Wells book for northern colorado? how many trails did he come up with? thanks.
It looks pretty decent I think. Judging by the pictures I think the southern trails look like they have better scenery and more fun to drive. But coming from ND the norther trails are a lot more accessible to me. It will be about a 15 hour drive for me to just get to the northern trails so I'll likely use that book more. Looking inside the cover it looks like he has about 45 trails listed for the Northern CO and about 75 for the southern CO book. So its somewhere between half and 2/3s the number of southern trails. Definetly enough trails there to keep it interesting for a number of trips.

We could not find a place to camp or stay in Ouray - it was very crowded. We ended diving back up the road 10min to Ridgway and found a cheap motel.
I know this exact spot. We were there the first week of July and stayed in Ouray. We had a blast when we were there. Looks like you did too. Great pictures. Nice write-up.

Yeah it could be easy to miss. I don't think that there was a trailhead, just a sort of trail going up through the rocks.

Ok, should be more clear. lol I live in BC, and am spoiled by the wild spaces here. I am on the coast, but I consider the province my back yard.

Beautiful no matter how you slice it, both here and there. I might be going to CO in a week... to Denver on business, will fly over some of that however. lol

Awesome! I've only seen pictures of that area, and I'd love to go exploring in the forests there.

We did the passes and trails around Ouray a few years ago, we stayed in Ouray and it was great. Beautiful country for sure.

Absolutely amazing. I wish there was similar trips available in the Northeast, but someday I'll get back out there and I hope I can do something as amazing as this!
