Tuttle Creek, KS 20120121

Went up to Tuttle Creek today. For anyone that doesn't know its near Randolf, Kansas. There are trails for stock Jeeps to full on buggies. Its a great place for beginners to go learn.

Anyway, I left Wichita around 0730. It was a bit chilly.

As I was driving it got a little colder. The lowest I saw was 9*F. Good thing the Jeeps heater works good. I was nice and toasty warm.

One thing about Kansas, gas stations can be few and far between. Luckily the Jeeps gas gauge lies... A lot. When I shut off the Jeep at the gas station the needle didn't move at all. Pegged at E! It took 18.1 gallons. Still had a gallon left.

I arrived at the meeting place in Junction City around 0930 to find Kntryboy already there. Slowly the group started to show up. We ended up having around 8 or so Jeeps. No pics of the group together.

We got to Tuttle Creek a little after 1100. They don't have any air compressors or anything, just a little restroom. So I didn't air down on this trip. We didn't do anything too hard since we had a stocker and a few Grand Cherokees, so that was fine.

We didn't stop to take too many pictures but here's what I have from the one place we stopped and took a few. This was a small ledge.

I got up and over with just enough time to snap this pic before having to move out of the way.

WK Pulling up.

He tried but didn't have quite enough traction, we placed a rock to aid with that.

Up and over.

The stocker TJ.

First attempt.

Cleared.

He suffered some trail damage... The passenger side step he had on broke on a rock. Here's the carnage.

The WJ.

Over the top.

JK staging.

Making progress.

Cleared.

Thats about it for pics. I do have a few random ones here.

We ran a few more trails and decided to call it a day around 1400. It was a good easy, fun day with a great group of guys.

Next time you hit Tuttle you may want to check out the gas station in Randolph. They have a free air hose off the north side of the building for jeepers to use. It's about a one mile drive from the park to the gas station to air up.

It performed well. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure if anyone took pictures of me. But I had a blast.

I had a blast out there with all of you, and to make it even better the boy said it was more fun than his video games. I'm thinking when I get back from Afghanistan a lift and new tires for sure. I told the wife my step wouldn't have busted if I had the bigger tires. She didn't buy it. But once again thanks for the great time and letting me know about this forum.
