Trail Report: The Badlands 11/20/09

So it's been about a month since my trip to the Badlands and I was finally able to find some time to gather and edit all my pics... so here's another report for you all.

The Badlands Offroad Park, Attica IN

The Badland's official website

JP Magazine write-up

Both Saturday and Sunday were absolutely beautiful days with plenty of sun and temps in the upper 60's... the last "good" weekend of fall 2009. We wheeled all day Saturday and Sunday, then made the trip back home Sunday night... with the exception of Matt. He only came down to wheel on Saturday.

The group consisted of...

- Red / Orange JK Rubicon (Matt from DDO)
- Red TJ Rubicon (Drew and the family)
- Silver TJ Sport (Me and Dina)

This park is by far one of the best in the country when it comes to size, terrain, and fun! The terrain consists of sand dunes, steap hills, deep forests, rock bed creeks, and a beautify quarry. The park is so huge that we weren't able to explore all the trails even after two full days! The Badlands makes for an all around great place to wheel!

Thanks for looking!

We started out on the "green trail"... but as you can see "green" does not stand for "easy" like many other parks lables lol

Drew forgot to fill up on the way into the park so Matt and I decided to play around in the dunes for a while...

Once Drew met back up with us, we decided to head down to the creek. This park is famous for it's tube drop enterance. We decided to drop in on the other side to start off.

Along side of the creek are miles of mud trails that run between trees

After our quick pit stop, we continued on through the trails...

We decided to make our way over to the quarry... a great place to play around.

Once we got to the quarry, we noticed this guy in his XJ climbing up and down rock walls like it was nothing! He made a comment to me about how our jeeps are too "nice" to be wheeled... well, I didn't realize there was such a thing... LOL

You just gotta love signs posted around the area like these...

Every section of the trails put our suspension to the test. The pictures don't really do much justice, so I decided that next time I'll bring my MP4 player!

We hit some pretty fun and beautiful trails behind the quarry. I like it when it's all purtty and stuff....

This was a nice little ledge drop... slow crawl and careful placement is the name of the game.

Well, the trail lead us to a swamped out section which both Matt and Drew asked for me to "test it out" to see how bad it was. They apparently think my rig can float or something... LOL!

And then with water up to my floor boards, I got stuck

Drew went around to see if he could pull me out from the front... well he ended up getting stuck too.

Thanks to Matt, both Drew and I were successfully pulled out.

The next day, we went to the dunes 1st since Drew and the fam missed out on that Saturday getting gas. The dunes really make you feel prett darn small.

Rough Country's suspension at it's finest!! Getting some air and nothing breaking

We thought it would be a great time for the ladies to drive

We decided to make our way back to the creek. This time Drew decided to drop in from the tube.

Drew noticed something wrong with his suspension. We took a look and discovered that his front driver's side coil was pinned down from the drop into the creek. I took out my high-lift jack and knocked it loose so we could continue on...

Throughout the rest of the day we continued to explore some of the trails from yesterday, as well as new trails.

We ended up heading back to the lot around 5pm, aired up the tires, rinsed off some of the glory, and started on our way home. This trip was absolutely amazing and couldn't have been better and I hope you enjoyed the pics. I can't wait to get back out there again sometime soon... stay tuned....
