SIRA 4x4 @ Paragon AP, 1/27 & 1/28

Had a blast at Paragon this past weekend.

Saturday was frigid, but Sunday was a little warmer and more enjoyable. All 3 (4?) of our groups covered tons of ground and had a blast.

The group I led started out with plans of hitting Whompum first thing Saturday but it took us an hour to get the first few rigs ON the trail. I naturally blazed ahead (<- rofl smiley here), but since we were already winching about 25' in we decided against it.

We ended up running mostly low blues on Saturday, but everything from greens to blacks on Sunday.

Here are a few of my pics, I still have to upload the rest:

Slow & steady since we had no clue what was under the ice here:

... or with enough throttle you can jump it and be worry free.

This is the event that coined the phrase "pull a Kyle":

Sunday's assault on Pipe Bender, black 3. This was a bajillion times more fun than goofing around in the play area.

Some day, he too will wheel his jeep.

My camera crapped out...it kept turning off on its own, so I didn't get any pics of chris bouncing his front right off the ground...that and he was coming towards me

Dave up hummer hill :

Everyone hanging after cherokee hill:

I don't remember what trail this was, it was a new one and was alot of fun all though there was definately the most groaning from my sliders and skids here :

Tom

Nice meeting you guys out on the trail... We turned around on 79 and headed back out after talking to you... Winched the stock Scout once, and pulled him once. Too much for a stocker Scout on street treads. No problems with the turbo diesel Scout traveller or the 69 Scout 800A, both of them were stock. The Jeep Cherokee on 30s did well, motivated mainly by throttle.

We pretzeled a tie rod on the 69 800A on the "old pipeline" headed out for the day. We ended up doing a trail fix at the top of the pipeline, then a little more "massaging" in the parking lot. From there we took it to a buddy's place and fixed it right. My wife ended up driving parts over from Williamsport and we were all on our way home by 9PM.

Your group of Jeeps were truly impressive.

All the best to you and your pals,

Tom

Tom, nice to see you on the trail. Sorry we didnt get a chance to stop and chat. I was busy remaining strapped in to Kyle's XJ, for safety reasons. The second pic in Tom's(Tommaho) post was further down the trail we saw you on. Good thing I was strapped in or it could have been ugly.

Paragon

Your right, it would have be nice to have a chance to talk... but the days are so short when you're having fun right!

We'll miss this weekend's ride due to other commitments, but I think we'll be back in mid-March assuming it is still open. If not were going to try Rausch Creek.

The green level trails at Paragon were right for us. The blues were too much.

I'm going to try to post up our photos on Photopost... maybe sometime this week.

Howdy, folks. Some of you might remember me as Matt (trex88)'s mangy-bearded copilot. It was a fine weekend of adventure with some great folks. Anyways, I snapped a few picture along the way on saturday & sunday, and since I'm too new to post any pictures, here are some links:

GPS Map of Saturday & Sunday's routes

Group poser shot

Test of recovery skills

Complete gallery of 27-28 JAN 07 Paragon pictures

Enjoy.
