Sedona, Arizona: Greasy Spoon and Broken Arrow

The Land: Mythical (or true?) red rocks of Sedona, Arizona have healing powers. We call them "vortices," or vortex for a singular one. All I know is that when I leave this place, I'm always grinning from all wild fun on these trails. So, okay, maybe they work.

We do have to contend with another phenomenon: the Jeep Tour. What's that you ask? Well, it's a Jeep. It's been tossed into some sort of chamber where it underwent a transformation, and came out the other end with an OME suspension, a water jug bungee-corded to the front, a safari-style rear that holds 5 or 6 people. Then they then slapped some pink paint on 'em, charged tourists some dollars, and packed 'em in there:

Oh, well. You win some, you lose some. In turn, we get these uber-fun trails.

The people: Just a couple *******es trying to avoid getting run over by a Jeep-turned-Pink, and make it back for happy hour.

Russ and his Mighty Rubicon. The SOB bought the bumpers, winch, etc BEFORE he even got the Jeep. Ahh...The power of a bachelor!:

It ain't easy being the trail leader AND shooting photos. You have to get aggressive sometimes....

I don't know what Ivan's looking for, but by golly he'll put all his effort into it!

The question: Why on earth did NOT wait for the Rubicon to come out???

Any one else learn to hate from a strip mine and love from a strip bar?

What else to say? Steep hills, red rocks, healing rocks maybe?

My favorite place to get away to when I lived in Phx. I used to spend alot of time there. Thanks for sharing great pics, Sedona is as beautiful as ever. Looks like you all had a great time!

Oh man....I found another one. Pink Jeep for your viewing pleasure:

It's easy to wonder what the hell?, but at least people are getting outside and enjoying themselves. No complaint about that.

But the Jeep is Barbie pink.
And the General Lee was hugger orange.

I think Pink Jeep Tours was pink before Barbie got her license.

Pink is a very fitting color for Sedona. Both copies of the DVD Broke Back Mountain were sold in Sedona.

Ain't it fitting the tour guide is driving limp wristed?

Seriously, when I was, um, about 11 I was down in Sedona on a trip with my grand parents and they were pretty insistent I go on the Pink Jeep tour. It was rough, I was one 12 year old boy in a Jeep with 5 college age babes (including the driver) for hours.

Anyways, it was my first taste of off-roading and I hadn't ever tried something like that before. It was pretty cool for a first time experience seeing what Jeeps could do. I was asking the driver a lot of quesions about how the Jeep was set up and stuff.

Anyways, years later I finally got my own off-road rigs and got into the world of wheel'n. Been lov'n it ever since.

And BTW, Articulate . . . excellent photos. That's just some beautiful scenery down there. Just like I remember it. Awesome photos.

Sorry, dude. Missed your question.

As for my camera, I'm an antiquated SOB dodging my way through the digital age. I shoot film through a Canon Ti Rebel SLR body and an assortment of lenses. The colors, though, can be attributed to the film: Fuji Sensia 100 slide film. I love that stuff.

dang...a bunch of my friends are doing these very trails this coming november. I'm very jealous.

I have actually been to Sedona before and it's a GREAT place. beautiful at day AND night. the sky at night is amazing there.
