Rebel Offroad: Moab Easter Jeep Safari Day 1: Behind the Rocks

Rebels,
In keeping with Rebel Moab tradition, here is the first part of our annual trip report!
-----
780 miles and 11 1/2 hours after departing beautiful Orange County, California - we arrived in Moab, Utah. Bowen Motel will be the temporary Rebel bunker like always during our stay. We love how the town comes alive after 50 weeks of slumber as it welcomes the largest Jeep event in the world.

We awoke bright and early to meet up with Larry from Poison Spyder for a run on the infamous trail "Behind the Rocks." The Rebels had never been on this trial before but we knew we were in good hands with our trail guide Larry@Poison leading the way.

We drove a quick 15 minutes outside of town to the trail head, aired down, and hit the terrain. If you've never been to Moab it's difficult to explain just how unique the traction is here. Near vertical climbs and sheer drops keep you on your toes - but the tires just keep grabbing.

The only casualty of the day was my rear Currie RockJock Dana 60's 5:38 ring gear - she looked like she had as many teeth as a Halloween pumpkin. (And my rear pumpkin is orange to boot!) We limped her to the end of the trail where we loaded the Jeep onto the trailer and dropped her off with our friends at the Moab 4x4 Outpost for a quick overnight stay. She's promised to be back to 100% by 10:00 am tomorrow - perfect timing for our launch towards Rusty Nail! We welcome new friends from WS Offroad and as always long time friend John@4x4 S-pod.

Cheers,
Bond

Did anyone turn around and go up White Knuckle Hill? That's the only way to do it.
