Sorry about the last attempt,
now for take two:

First started out in Golden, home of the COORS brew. and the only place where barmens is served by coors.


the town is very small but really neat and clean.
probably a big tourist town in the winter.

We went onto Breckenridge for the day camped at a KOA park for the night:



can you guess where our dinner was...

Next we moved onto Gunnison for the night.
We were staying in tents so of course when we got their the park was watering our lot....
so we stayed in a small one room cabin.

It wasn't until the next day did we hit a trail: Misquito pass

Then we had to find some parts becasue I brothers xj was leaking fluid out of the the transfer case. driving into town we stumbled onto some really cool guys who happened to be jeep specialists. maybe you have heard of them..

The next day was spent driving 45 miles on trails including Cinnamon, California, Hurricane, and Corkscrew passes. That started IN LAke City and ended in Ouray:

After staying in Ouray for the night we headed out to Yankee Boy Basin but got rained and hailed on running from the fast approaching storm:


and we had to make our camp so we didn't get rained on:


tarps are cheap and in this case very useful.

Overall the trails were mostly easy and can be managed with care in 2WD. EXCEPT Imogene. low and slow is the way to go on this trail. 4LO and low gear does nicely. I'm already making plans to come back in the future! hope you guys get to experience this too some day.

Thanx for posting all the pics. I have traveled most of those same trails mostly on motorcycles. Never had the cahones to tackle Imogene. Heart bars me from going back there now, so the pics served as a great reminder of thrills past. Thanx again

Making me want to road trip it....

went out to vail couple weeks ago...wish i had taken my jeep out there. we did go on an offroad trip in an 08 JK with a 3" lift. went to about 12K feet...got up in the snow. it was a lot of fun. definetly want to get my jeep out there...its jeep heaven for sure. looks likt a great time...keep jeepin'!!!
