Muddy Muddy Christmas, Lakeland FL, 12/9/07

**Warning: Many pictures--slow servers may take a while to load.**

For those of you that don't know about Central-Florida wheelin', there aren't too many legal spots in the area that are worth your time. Though, Lakeland Mud Bogs is probably the most recognized and popular place to go for anyone wanting to push their rig to the limits. It's located right off I-4 (Exit 38) and offers spectator mud-runs, along with open mud-holes for anyone that pays the $15 to get in.

Muddy Muddy Christmas was an event this past Sunday held by Trucks Gone Wild that features anything a mud-lover would wish for. Open mud pits, Firedrill Mud Runs, Demolition Derby cars, etc.. Here are the pictures from this years Muddy Muddy Christmas:

On the way there, on I-4, rigs were already seen being trailered to the event...

Of course I had to spend some time taking pictures of the Jeeps:
I think this is an M-38, correct me if I'm wrong.

A very nice Jeep (IMO) This guy was obsessed with Warn products:

Onto the mud-boggers:

This was "Tractor Dave".. I don't know the specifics of his rig, but it was by far one of the biggest that I'd seen the entire day. Kinda funny, he drove an ambulance that spent most of the day rescuing stuck rigs . Ended up getting stuck in a mudhole that swallowed every rig that (I had seen) attempt it:

I have a lot of miscellaneous pictures, mainly just rigs driving through the mud pits:

There was an event called the "Fire-drill Mud Run". One rig would race down a strip of mud (timed) and have to switch drivers halfway through in order to try and make the best time:

This is the only shot I got of a team switching drivers. Notice the technique of crawling across the hood to save time:

The next picture is the pit that swallowed every rig that I had seen attempt it (same one that Tractor Dave got stuck in):

Not sure what this guy was thinking, but he had large tires on the back and small ones on the front. Ended up getting stuck in a tiny mud hole when his front (tiny) tires got bogged down:

A buddy from my club ended up getting stuck. I guess that's what happens when you combine all-terrains and a 3-inch body lift :

Here's another guy from my club. He decided that his 2WD Chevy could make it through a pit that 1-ton trucks on 44"s couldn't make :

Here's a guy I brought with me. He was fairly new to off-roading...enough to not know that you shouldn't let other people to convince you bring your rig through a certain pit. Anyway, he ended up getting stuck, bringing one wheel off the ground, (and to add insult to injury) got pulled out by a Rhino :

Anyway, it ended up being a blast. There were some of the biggest rigs I'd ever seen, and they would actually get window-deep in the mud.

Are most of those vehicles stuck or are they smiling at the camera in mid-run? Looks like a blast. The old ambulance made me laugh

Some are stuck (like the Sammy) but many aren't. These rigs were ridiculously capable when it came to going through the gook.

Looks like a lot of fun, think I seen that place before, but I may be mistaken.

Lots of good rigs.

Lakeland Mud Bogs (technically, Lakeland Motorsports Park), about a mile off of I-4 at exit 38.

I know a cool litlle place around there if you have the time and aren't too wide. Take one exit west of 33, I think it's 31. Turn left at the light and you see a little drive on the left hand side of the road. Pull in and follow to the left and you'll start seeing the trails. Lots of fun can be had in there just watch out for trees.
