Mojave Trail from Baker Ca. to Laughlin. Nv.

Took a 8 hour drive this weekend on the Mojave Trail, from Baker, Ca. to Laughlin, Nv. There were a total of 9 jeeps, with a good combo of TJ's, YJ's, Rubicons, and even a great running CJ-7!

The off road portion is about 73 miles, and some parts have some pretty soft silt, but a little tire deflation helped out quite a bit. Also, some of the roads are getting quite overgrown and rutted, but all jeeps came away pretty unscathed. And best of all, no breakdowns except one flat tire, and one swing away spare/rear bumper that became undone, swinging out causing a pretty good dent on the right rear.

I highly recommend this full day trip. The weather was actually a little chilly, about 65-70 degrees. Ending up in Laughlin, Nevada, allowed us to partake in some cold libations and gambling before retiring with a good, hot shower.

Hope you enjoy as much as I did this weekend!

Looks like a nice bunch of jeeps. Always good to get back to nature! Thanks for sharing.

great pictures. Some friends and I are going to start in the Laughlin area. I thought the whole trail was something like 140 miles or so. Did you do part of the trail? Did you use the Mojave Road Guide at all? We are going to take two days and do a little camping.

Actually, the trail is about 130 miles long, from end to end. I sure wish I had read the history of the trail before taking my ride, because the area is full of relics and stops worth taking. We did the trail as a bachelor party for a friend, so everyone wanted to hurry to get to Laughlin. The reason for the shortened mileage is because the road continues past Baker and heads towards Death Valley, which we were unable to do because of our time constraints. Have a great time!

Updated information

This is a picture of "Charlie," checking out his new mobile GPS system on our Baker to Laughlin run. Unfortunately Charlie and his brother "Jimmy," and their wives were all killed in the Christmas Eve slaughter in Covina, Ca. Rest in peace, Charlie and Jimmy!
