Taking some time to enjoy some of the scenary on the climb down. It felt so good to be moving down after all that climbing, today was intense!

After getting back to the Jeep we headed down the Nellie Creek trail and reconnected with the Engineer Pass trail and headed west towards the pass

Some of the views from the overlook slightly west of Engineer Pass

After getting back to Ouray we headed back to Orvis Hot Springs for another evening of naked hot tubbing The next day it was the long and sad drive home. Neither of us wanted to leave and we're determined to move to either Moab or Colorado someday after we're out of nursing and med school!!!

Let me know if you want any information about either places or want some more pictures of something in particular. Happy trails!!

The avalanche did okay in the mountains but it definitely wasn't easy. Going over some of the passes gave it quite a workout and it was hard to keep it moving. Luckily both of my trailer's axles had brakes but on the way home going South on 550 from Ouray towards Durango there's several mountain passes and I could smell the brakes getting nasty.

So did the kid's parents get fined for burning down the tree? That is seriously dangerous out west.

Anyway, awesome pictures and indeed it sounded like a great trip. I'm surprised that the Black Bear switchbacks were still closed. I was there three summers ago during the first week of August and all of the trails were dry and open, other then for the rain since Ouray does get plenty of it.

Thanks for sharing!

Gig 'Em? Ha.

other than the longhorn paraphernalia , great photos... again. The climb looked awesome. on top of the world. We leave in 11 days for the same trip and hopefully many of the same trails, adding a stay in the LaSal's and Durango.

Any issues/difficulty with Corkscrew, Hurricane or California trails?

The truck's not mine, we borrowed it for the trip. But its a 4spd auto. That thing was perfect for this trip because we kept all our gear in the back of it and didn't have to worry about it getting wet or stolen.

As for corkscrew/hurricane/california we didn't have any issues at all. Even with the heavy rain, none of the streams and runoffs were too threatening. Have a good time out there. And I guess I didn't post the dates but this was in late june, that's why black bear and imogene weren't open yet.
