Memorial Weekend Norther Nevada

RareCJ8, efstop22 and myself took off on sunday of memorial weekend from Reno and headed up north to Doyle CA and from there took back roads through the Smoke Creek Desert onto Gerlach NV. Stopped by Brunos for a cocktail and then headed up further north into the Black Rock Desert. Hung out on the playa for a few then headed on up to Cottonwood Creek in the Granite Mtn range to meet up with a large group of campers who were already there. Weather was brisk and over cast with rain showers. The drive up through Cottonwood Creek is beautiful and remote. On the way in we ran into Marty in his CJ5 leaving. At camp we were happy to see Barbara and David Rainey and a ton of other people. Everyone but us left monday so we had the whole mtn range to ourselves. On tuesday we left and decided to take a different route out. Took us almost four hours through some cool country on old two track roads to get to Little Squaw Resivoir. From there we took the same route back home from Gerlach. Was a great trip and got to see some new country.

Left the jeeps at home for more comfort and high speed dirt road action.
