JGW Badlands 2009-04-04
This is the trail report for the Jeeps Gone Wild outing to the Badlands in Attica In.
I used the image thumbnails to help the page load quicker... For me, the day started nicely, albeit early. It was a chilly 30 degrees...I packed the Jeep and headed off the Lincoln Oasis, where Mike an 10 other Jeeps joined in. We set off for the Badlands. Here is my Jeep in the morning sunrise. ![]() Others in our small convoy, against the wind power generators. ![]() The morning meeting, from Ashley's perspective. ![]() Chris, Jason, Alex, Ashley, Steve, and Phil and Kurt headed out to scout some new areas of the park, thanks to my handy map. Pretty quickly, Chris found what he was looking for, mud... and promptly got stuck. Jason started to pull him out, and got stuck, too. Steve's winch to the rescue... ![]() ![]() Always more to see... ![]() Here's Phil and passenger, looking for their hammer. Hammer, how did they loose their hammer... and why look for it? Just get another one.... No, not a hammer a camera. They had mounted a waterproof camera to the front of the windshield... then the mud hole wanted to see the pictures, and promptly took the camera.... I'm sure it's got some great "last moment" action shots... ![]() Ashley exiting Eric's temporarily stuck Jeep. ![]() and Chris's recovery... ![]() With a sudden stop... ![]() That was a dead tree, but luckily it only hit his sturdy bumper... Jason, waiting for help... ![]() ![]() Along with some mud, we found some nice climbs.... ![]() And some nice photo spot's, sorry Eric, your shot was bogus.... Jason, ![]() Chris, ![]() Steve, ![]() Phil with Kurt driving, I believe, ![]() And, finally, here's the one shot I have of the Red Cherokee after the hidden tree incident... ![]() You can view the full image set.... see it here

Thank You everyone who made it that was a present member, new member and other jeepers that join us to see and to know what was our club about. We had over 20+ jeeps that day.
The weather was beautiful, sunny and lots of people got sun burned. The trails were just right, dry at many places yet muddy because of the recent rain that Indiana had. All in all the trail conditions was perfect to wheel on. We separated into 2 groups and they were our scouting group that were members of the club and were finding and making new trails for our upcoming runs. Thanks to Anthony, He went to google earth and took his time, copied and printed a huge map at Kinkos of the landscape of the Badlands park. This helped out so they can clearly see where to go and find new trails. Everyone from their group told me they had a blast and the other trails were cool and have some new place for our club to wheel and try. As for the Beginners and Intermedate, We had a great time as always and used our regular trails as a warm up and a learning tool so, new jeeps can get used to their jeeps and how to offroad on the terrains. All of them did very well for their first time offroading and the others who wheeled with us before did great. After our trail runs in the beginning, everyone went their ways and met up with others to run other trails. It was a great run and everyone really helped out esp. Josh working on my jeep, Cindi's, and Mikes. He's awesome and volunteered his kind and dedicated hard work to try his best to get us though the day. We all thank Josh for his help. At 3:30pm, everyone gathered up at the top parking lot for our handing of the Easter eggs, gift give way for paid members and split the pot for everyone. I like to thank everyone for being involved and thank you Steve & Heather/Cowboy for donating their prize to the club that's very kind and thoughtful of them. Everyone had a nice and relaxing time at the end and this was a great time to spend with each other and talk about their day and the carnage some of them got. I like to thank everyone again for joining our "Easter Egg Run" and everyone did awesome. It's a great feeling to see all of us pitch in when we needed help and support. This makes our club special because, we all help and take our time as a group. I'm proud of all of you and glad new members joined our club. I cannot wait for our next run and future runs, and we'll see & wheel with each other soon. Thank You, Michael Club President
