Broken Arrow Trail - Sedona AZ - 7/1/08

GF and I took a camping/wheeling trip to Sedona AZ, aka Redrock Country. Lots of beautiful terrain and great trails to wheel.

Broken Arrow.....

At the beginning of the trail you'll find this sign (note the mentioning of the Pink Jeeps).....

After that sign is a big man made rock bump. I dont have a pic, but the purpose of the bump is to prevent any rental vehicles from continuing on the trail.

Onwards through the beginning of the trail is the first real obstacle.......

Continuing on the trail to Submarine Rock.....

I'd like to take a moment to say that at this point, I had already came across 4 pink Jeeps within a 1/2 mile of the trail.......

Parked at the base of Submarine Rock......

Submarine Rock gives awesome views of the surrounding area. No wheeling on the rock, but walking around up there and taking it all in is just as fun.......

Next stop is Chicken Point.......

Getting to Chicken point offered some fun little obstacles (sorry no pics). Parked at Chicken Point.......

The view from Chicken Point is nothing short of amazing.......

Leaving Chicken point, on the way to the, ''Jeep play area'' as they call it......

Jeep play area. Lots of fun obstacles to flex your Jeep's muscles on.....

After the Jeep play area is Mushroom Rock and on to, ''The Staircase''.......

The Staircase.........

Made it......

After the Staircase, the trail continues on back to the trail entrance. You end up re-joining part of the trail where you started.......

Seen another one of these on the way back......

Broken Arrow is rated as moderate to challenging. For me, I found it challenging at some parts as my rig is lifted only 2'' with 31'' AT's and no armor. The Staircase raised my pucker level factor to borderline maxed out and as far as Im concerned, the pics dont do it justice. There is no bypass for that obstacle. We managed though and it reassured my craving for a more built rig.

Before wheeling this trail I read many stories about how the Pink Jeep tours are annoying or that they'll hassle you. We lucked out though I guess. Anytime we came across one, we'd stop, let them go by and they would let us know that there is more behind them coming up shortly. Not to mention they would also radio in with each other to let them know we were there as well.

If you haven't been or ever end up close to Sedona, I definitely recommend checking it out. Get a Red Rock Pass because you'll need it when your parked. We headed there early, it was only my GF and I and the 10 Pink Jeeps we saw. The good thing was that at the scenic view points, we were the only ones there considering all the Pink Jeeps we saw.

Thanks StvDiego for the info/local knowledge .

Ahh...Broken Arrow. It's one of my most frequently wheeled trails, and only 1/2 hour from my house.

Glad ya'll enjoyed my backyard!

Think again....I wouldn't be seen in one. They are annoying! I rode my Mtn bike on those trails and they were all over the place. Some of the driver/guides were asshats thinking they owned the trail.

Beautiful area. Just bring your own rig.

If you wanted to rent a Jeep in Sedona, you can rent a Rubi at Farabees Jeep Rentals. I went there and got maps and some local knowledge about the trail. The Pink Jeeps are guided tours and actually, you get more bang for your buck by renting your own Jeep. Plus you would have more freedom to do what you want.
