Intake manifold. They showed it to me. Had white residue all over. One of the guys said it looked like a fire that was put out with an extinguisher

My guess would be fuel leak that ignited, or someone had the timing off and it backfired and set the filter on fire.

Saul, are any of the wires burned?

was it there before you went to the mechanics? Maybe they set it on fire, put it out with a fire extinquisher (since MOST people don't keep extinquishers on hand, but shops do)

I didn't really notice any burned wires but I also didn't really look for that. I did notice a bunch of chopped wires since i bought it back in June. I always wondered what the hell they did to it before

Well poop. They might have caught it on fire and had to repair the burnt wires. I replaced a carb one time and it had a fuel leak I wasn't aware of caught the whole valley on fire as soon as it started it. We put it out in a few seconds but the wires were toast.

That being said I wouldn't worry about it now. Unless they did a poop job of rewiring it. If corrosion gets in the connectors it can cause all sorts of headaches.

I meant the PO prob had something to do with all those wires. I know they're all over the place but that is how I bought it. I never gave it much thought since it ran just fine.
Before I get my hopes up for getting her back Monday, am I going to run into another halt since I didn't purchase a throttle cable bracket or linkage adapter??
I'm using the Truck Avenger carb.
Just wanna go ahead and order those now if I will def be needing them.

and thanks for all the feedback gents. really appreciate y'alls help

Nice choice on carb.
I made my own out of some sheet metal laying around and a slide for the tranny linkage.

You can always purchase them though. Have you considered the Lokar tranny cable? It replaces the lever set up and is much easier to adjust.

I cut and welded my throttle bracket. The trans linkage I was just able to get it adjusted, but you may have to extend it by an inch
