What is this device for?

I see this white thing connected to vacuum hoses, electric wires and a chain link to the carb ...

Yep, that is your non-functioning cruise control.

There should be another vacuum ball beside your master cylinder that connects to that loose vacuum line, then a line that goes to the vacuum ball on the fire wall. That line should have two t's in line, one to vacuum source (intake) one into the fire wall (next to the green and yellow vac lines), there is a black plastic vac line from the low port of the fire wall vacuum ball that goes into the fire wall about two inches below the other three.

On the first T connection on the fire wall vacuum ball, Where exactly is your vacuum source on the intake connection? Do you have a picture of the other end of that hose? Mine was connected to the air filter housing lines for the vacuum motors on the " lift gates " for the air filter.

Thank you for your help

Well, I can't remember on my stock 2bbl intake, but I think its right behind the carb. It can be hooked into any manifold vacume port though.

Thank you. I connected mine to the intake port in front of the carb where I have my brake booster. There is a connector for the brake booster and another smaller connection.
