Wagoneer doors won't shut please help!

Just got a 1973 Jeep Wagoneer and the front doors will not latch shut. The outside push button latch and the inside handle both seem to do nothing. I pulled the inside panel off to see if anything was moving inside and nothing is. It looks like everything is attached, but the problem is I don't know what I'm looking at to know if something is missing or broken. Is there a diagram of the lock mechanisms some where? Or does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My gues is that the latch in the door is latched. If you look, you'll be able to see. If it is, put a screwdriver in the spot where the male latch should sit, pull inwards you slightly, and use the door handle.

This happens on my xj all the time because the top hinge is ripped out.
