vacuum lines?
[IMG]http://C:\Users\hopkins\Pictures\2009-01-15 new\new 009.JPG[/IMG.JPG Ok I know I have asked a ton of questions on this forum so far but Im knew to the FSJ world. Im an aircraft mechanic so im pretty much inclined to tackle anything that needs fixing on my 87 Grand Wagoneer. But the one thing that has thrown a wrench into my endevours of restoring and making my new beauty a dependable driver has been the vacuum hose/ emission system under the hood. Now the Jeep runs like a dream, the only thing engine related problem is an annoying tick coming from the heat riser anything above idle. THe problem is their are numerous lines capped off and some not hooked up at all. Especially coming off the air cleaner and intake. Also the biggest one that bothers me is there is no line coming off the EGR valve. Also the smell of exhaust is so strong in and out of the JEEP.

Do you need emissions where you are? I pulled everything off mine and I love it. I had similar problems and I can pass a smog now, but not the visual portion. I had A.I.R on mine. When I pulled that off and switched to edelbrock shorty headers and no cat with flowmaster, it made a huge difference. You can Buy the EGR parts from Team Grand Wagoneer, but when I swapped out my intake manifold I did away with it completely. I have minimal "spaghetti" under the hood now and it runs great. All I have is the vacuum advance, brake booster, PCV, and a vacuum switch hose coming off the rear of the manifold to the t-junction by the accumulator so I can shift into 4WD. No canister, AIR pump, or any of that crap. Everything else is plugged or capped. Hope this helps.

Vacuum advance comes out of the distributor. I think it has a little check valve on it too. I just lengthened the hose and plugged into the E-brock carb on the left side. The right side is capped off (for Tranny in other rigs) yours is mechanincally shifted if you have the 727. When I put the new manifold on I plugged in a little fitting in the back supplying vacuum to the brake booster (3/8?) and vacuum switch (3/16?) the t-fitting is still there one leg to the accumulator and one leg to the switch. I ran my PCV out of the block straight into the front of the carb and did away with the canister alltogether. When I did this stuff I pulled everything off and started over so it doesn't look anything like stock. You can call my cell if you need more w/out waiting me to get back on this site. I'll send you a private message. BTW I'm a Helo avionics guy (CH53E) stationed in Pensacola.

The big hose should be PCV.
