Transmission slow
Hey everyone,
My 87 Wagoneer's transmission isn't shifting properly. Its an automatic and when putting it in drive it will go into neutral before catching the right gear. Even while driving, when it is shifting to a higher gear it seems to get caught in neutral. There's enough ATF as well. Does this sound familiar to anyone else, and is there a way fix it?

It sounds like you need a band adjustment. If you dont have a manual, you should be able to find instructions on the web.

Here is a great page for reading about the torqueflite 727.

1987 Wagoneer or 1987 Grand Wagoneer?

Sounds like clogged filter or hard seals. Drop pan and clean filter with new fluid. If that doesn't get it or there is a TON of material in the pan, a can of STP engine oil treatment may make it hold together till you can afford a trans swap.

The time now is 02:12 PM.
