Transmission Fluid Recommendation

Going to change out the transmission gasket and filter and was hoping someone could recommend a type and brand of transmission fluid for a 89 GrandWagoneer (Automatic).

Thanks,

I'd buy the stuff from the dealership.

The spec fluid for the auto it has (TF727) is Dexron III. Pick a brand of your choice as it has the same specs and brand is basically a personal preference.

Interesting. Have same 727 in my 88. Service manual states Chrysler ATF. The Tcase on the other hand required Dexron.

I thought it odd they both did not use same fluid, but followed manual.

Mopar recommends replacing it with ATF +4 in all Chrysler transmissions. It's a synthetic fluid.

A little more expensive, however, but all synthetics are.
