tranny swap??

OK, I know we're all SJ guys, but maybe some of you have little jeep experiance.

I have a 1983 SJ Cherokee 4 door. Right now I am in the process of swapping out the 4.2 for a 4.0 with the MPFI. I was going to keep the T176 and just get the bell housing machined for the CPS but then found an AW4 close by for sale.

What would be the pros and cons for swapping out the T176 for the AW4?

Would my NP 208 bolt up the AW4 or would I need an adapter plate?

The AW4 I found is from an 89 wrangler, what mods or electrical connections would I need to consider mating this up to a 4.0 and wiring harness from a 92 Cherokee that had an AW4?

(I know the AW4 is an auto)

I'm pretty sure the '90 model computer and wiring harness are different than earlier 4.0/AW4 models. Don't think you could use the '92 stuff with an '89 engine. I swapped a 4.0 from an '88 XJ Wagoneer to an '88 XJ Cherokee and some of the wiring was different. Jeep used a different fuel injection system starting around '90, so the computer is not the same.
Hope this is not as confusing as it looks.
