I can say my temporary dump / turndown in front of axle = no riding with t gate window open....you get sleepy fast:-)

That's a good idea. They wouldn't get squashed and I don't think I flex that much offroad. And the bend will make for some nice back pressure.

There is a build on IFSJA, but I couldn't find it. Over springs, side pipes, tucked inside the rocker panels (to prevent shin burns) then dumped to the side in front of the tire.

Thanks! That was a great article.
I think they ran theirs after the spring though. Oh well. I guess I can rework it and run a body lift someday if need be.

You can solve your problem by swapping the oil pan with the one from the original 360. When jeep went to driver side drop axles they had to reroute the exhaust slightly. This necessitated a slight change to the oil pan. Your 401 is from something earlier than a drop driver rig or from a passenger car. You can use the oil pan from an driver side drop 360 and it will clear the exhaust. This isn't 'speculation', I lived the same problem (I like to specify if I 'know' something or 'believe' something).

I know. But I already did the 401 rebuild in my dorm room and performed the whole swap by myself in a parking lot. I don't want that pan to come back off for a while.

Besides. I don't think my 401 will breath as well as it would with my 2" pipe.

Cool. It looks like you are set up to go wheel'n. Here in AZ exhaust exits in front of the rear tires would get crushed:

I ran single above the rear spring. Again, a exit in front of the tire would not have survived this:

Well. In East Texas I don't encounter too many rocks. Just tree roots and stumps. I don't seriously wheel like that though. I would say the wildest I will get is deer lease trails and occasionally rescuing baby Jeeps at the offroad park in Gilmer.

I would plan on keeping them tucked up. Don't care how much is showing. If necessary I can put sliders on to cover them. Although I'm not sure how hot that would get. If 3" out the back is cheaper than duels I'm going for it.

Just dropped my Jeep off at Muffler Masters. They are running duels with 2.5" from the collector, inside of the front leafs, and out the sides with some thrush welded mufflers. Dumping in front of my rear tires. Can't wait to pick it up Monday.

He said he can probably clear the front driveshaft and get it through the spring. Keeping my fingers crossed on this.

With around 450 Ft-lbs I shouldn't be hurting it any running duels.
